“Apne Baare Mein Bataiye…”
The Most Terrifying Question Ever!

Remember school days?
You walk into class, fresh notebooks, new uniform, and a nervous smile. The teacher smiles back and says, “Okay children, let’s start with introductions. Sab apne baare mein bataiye!”
And boom! Your heart starts racing like Mumbai local during peak hours. Palms sweaty, throat dry, and suddenly… you forget who you are. Kya naam tha apna? Haan haan, yaad aaya...
You stand up, knees shaking, and mutter something like,
“Hi, my name is Ramesh. I am… I like… uh… cricket. Thank you.”
Taaliyaan bajti hain (mostly out of sympathy), and you sit down thinking bas ho gaya aaj ka Everest climb.
Fast forward to adulthood.
You're sitting in an interview room. HR smiles and says those magical words again:
“Tell me something about yourself.”
Wapas wahi Mumbai local mode on. Dil dhak dhak, haath-pair kaanp rahe hain, and brain? Brain toh Goa chala gaya hai vacation pe.
We know it’s a common question. We’ve heard it 500 times. It’s about us. Still… we freeze. Why?
Because deep down, we’ve never really asked ourselves the same thing.
Who am I?
What do I want?
What am I good at?
Where do I want to go in life?
And most importantly, raat ka khaana kya banega?
Okay, ignore the last one. But seriously…
Self-Discovery Ka Gyaan (No Baba Required)
We spend years learning equations, mugging up history dates, and figuring out the value of x, but when it comes to understanding ourselves — total blank.
Nobody teaches us how to identify our strengths.
Or how to accept our flaws.
Or even how to dream beyond what the society or Sharmaji ka beta is doing.
And because we never introspect — we walk into interviews, relationships, or even life goals half-prepared, confused, and full of self-doubt.
The Secret Sauce: Thoda Khud Ke Saath Baitho
Before the world asks you “Tell me about yourself,” aap khud se toh poocho! Sit down with a notebook or a cutting chai and ask:
What gives me joy?
What drains me?
What are my hidden talents (yes, binge-watching Netflix doesn’t count)?
What kind of life do I truly want?
It’s not about becoming a gyani baba or writing a philosophical thesis — it’s about becoming comfortable with yourself. Because jab tak aap khud ko nahi samjhoge, duniya ko kya samjhaoge?
In Conclusion (Jaise School Essay Mein Hota Tha)
The next time someone says “Tell me about yourself,” smile and say something real. Something you believe in. Not what’s expected, not what sounds fancy — just the truth.
